ESPE CHiP50 Combined Heat & Power Unit

CHP Unit installed at Geogen Head Office

Combined heat and power (CHP) is a highly efficient process that captures and utilises the heat that is a by-product of the electricity generation process.

By generating heat and power simultaneously, CHP can reduce carbon emissions by up to 30% compared to the separate means of conventional generation via a boiler and power station.

For many organisations, CHP offers the most significant single opportunity to reduce energy costs and to improve environmental performance.

The ESPE CHiP50 co-generator uses wood chips as fuel for gasification. The “fuel gas synthesis” (Syngas) obtained is the fuel which feeds the micro-cogeneration unit, which allows for the combined production of electricity and thermal energy: this device can supplement or replace boilers for commercial, industrial and agricultural production cycles and produce electricity from renewable sources.

Geogen Technologies have recently installed an ESPE CHiP 50 Unit at our commercial premises in Oswestry, Shropshire.
